The CHICAGO Perch

Founded by Matt Austin in October 2012,

The Chicago Perch exists as a creative platform for free learning

that connects people through sharing their ideas and stories.

So far, our mission has been realized through

book publishing, symposium dinners,

and public educational programs,

at no cost to any participant.

our first chapter (2012—2016):

Operating as a team of volunteers based in Pilsen from 2012-2016,

we raised over $25,000 for published artists.

We hosted over 30 public and cost-free learning events,

including collaborative efforts with Sixty Inches from Center, Autotelic Studios,

ACRE Residency, Spudnik Press, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago,

the Smart Museum of Art, the Reva and David Logan Center for Arts,

LATITUDE, Tejas Yoga, and Co-Prosperity Sphere.

Through grants, donations, partnerships and collaborations,

our work has been fueled by the support of those who believe in us.

Our Current Chapter (2017—     ):

We are continuing to explore new modes of fostering connection

through cost-free learning in our new partnership with Candor Arts

in which we are able to consistently provide accessible space

to coordinate cost-free programs that are open to the public.

The Chicago Perch is a volunteer-run project that has been

partially supported by an Individual Artist Program Grant

from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events,

as well as a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency

through federal funds provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.

To help us continue to live and breathe our mission,

please consider making a contribution to our efforts.
